'Studies on Art and Architecture' (Kunstiteaduslikke Uurimusi),
the journal of the
>
Estonian Society of Art Historians<,
publishes research articles on art history, theory and
visual culture, special issues, and reviews of books and events.
'Studies on Art and Architecture' was first published in 1976.
Until 2002 it was issued irregularly as a collection of articles. In 2003
the format was reorganised into a journal published four times per year.
The goal of the journal is to support and promote studies of visual art,
architecture, design and visual environment. In this respect, 'Studies on
Art and Architecture' is the central and essential forum for publishing and
exchanging academic thought in Estonia. Special issues focus on narrower topical
matters. Previously, special issues have considered the problem of realism,
the social determination of the living environment, and the
relationships between the object and its milieu. The Discussion section
includes self-reflective writings on methodologies, and various problems and
developments in art history and theory.
The articles are published in Estonian, English or
German; all articles in Estonian are accompanied by summaries in
English or German of approximately a quarter of the length of the
article.
'Studies on Art and Architecture' is covered by the following abstracting/indexing services:
